Poetry and Writing
Flintshire U3A currently has three groups in this category, two poetry groups and
one writing group. Please see below for further details.
We usually pick a poet, or sometimes one poem. Group discussion about the subject brings better understanding and increases the depth of meaning. It is not difficult! Please come and join us.
4th Thursday of month from 14.30 to 16.030.

We are a small group with a wide variety of interests from prose to poetry, flash-fiction to short stories and not-so-short stories in classic and modern styles.
Some of us are involved in amateur dramatics, music, song-writing and more.
All of us enjoy the creative process and have great fun on the way.
At each meeting, after a strong coffee, we’re invited to write a short piece of prose
and poetry in, say, 20 minutes. We read out the results which can range from brilliant
to dire, humorous to dark and often unfinished.
Our ‘homework’ might be to write a piece of 500 - 1500 words on a random topic, maybe in a particular style.
It’s sometimes challenging, but always enjoyable and followed by friendly discussion and gentle, constructive criticism.
If you would like to put your experiences or ideas into words or develop your style, then please come along.
We meet in Mold on the 2nd Monday of each month from 10.00 to 12.00. We’re very keen to get new members, so please call Sue on 01352 759072 for further details.
